The Snack Attack: Taco Bell Adds Cheesy Core Burritos To Menu For Limited Time [TASTE TEST]

The best things in life can be found in the center -- if you're obsessed with cheese, that is.

Behold Taco Bell's latest creation: Cheesy Core Burritos, which come in two varieties -- crunchy and spicy.

The Crunchy Cheesy Core Burrito is filled with a melted three cheese blend, warm nacho cheese sauce and crunchy red strips. The cheesy center is wrapped in a tortilla and surrounded by seasoned beef, Latin rice, sour cream and a red sauce.

The Spicy Cheesy Core Burrito contains a melted three cheese blend, warm nacho cheese sauce and sliced jalapenos, wrapped in a tortilla and surrounded by seasoned beef, Latin rice, sour cream and a red sauce.

These could quite possibly be Taco Bell's best burritos yet (R.I.P. Volcano Burrito, I still long for your lava sauce). Just try to resist the cheesiness!

Don't wait to try these bad boys though, they're only around for a limited time. You can get seasoned beef for $1.99 each, chicken for $2.79 each, or steak for $2.99 each.

I was surprised at how big this burrito actually was, especially for just $2 -- you definitely get a bang for your buck. Basically, this is a baby burrito wrapped inside a daddy burrito.

The center was stuffed with crunchy tortilla strips, but not much cheese. And speaking of cheese, I only noticed nacho cheese on this burrito. Maybe someone just fudged and forgot to add the three cheese blend, or there was such a small amount that I couldn't even tell. Either was, it was still yummy. The tortilla strips add some much-needed texture to an otherwise mushy burrito, and I thought the ratio of beef and rice was perfect. I usually order my burritos without rice because they always seem to pile so much of it on, but the way the rice is wrapped around the inner burrito kind of eliminates this problem. The red sauce added a nice flavor to the beef, but there wasn't quite enough of it.

Rating: 5 out of 10 -- I wish there was more cheese inside the so-called "cheesy core."

There's only one difference between this and the other burrito, but it's definitely a game changer: pickled jalapeno slices are stuffed into the cheesy core instead of tortilla strips. It's a bonus because the jalapeno slices are spicy and crunchy, so it's the best of both worlds.

And boy, was my burrito STUFFED with jalapenos. Every bite I took had a pepper in it, and those peppers were covered with gooey nacho cheese and the melty three cheese blend. My one complaint, though, is there was way too much rice and hardly any beef. I don't like when the main ingredient of my burrito is rice. Yes, it has a nice flavor but it's really just a filler. I want that beef!

Rating: 9 out of 10 -- Jalapeno heaven!
