ST. IGNACE, Mich. (AP) — A bald eagle that was cared for at a Michigan sanctuary is being released at the Mackinac Bridge.
READ MORE: 2,175 Pounds Of Pot Found In Semi Truck In DetroitThe Mackinac Bridge Authority is assisting in Tuesday’s release of the eagle named “Mighty Mac” with Wings of Wonder, a raptor sanctuary and rehabilitation center. Plans call for a release from either a bridge tower or anchor pier, depending on wind and other factors.
The eagle came into Wings of Wonder’s care in August, when founder and Director Rebecca Lessard received a call from a concerned person in Manistee County who spotted him sitting on a fence post at a horse ranch.
Lessard says the weakened eagle was in an intensive care clinic for 48 hours and may have been suffering from the effects of West Nile virus.
