CHESTERFIELD TWP. (WWJ) – Police say a Roseville man was attempting to run across Gratiot Ave. Sunday evening when he was hit by a car and killed.

Police say witnessed called 911 to report the accident, and 60-year-old Ricky Jay Baker was found lying in the roadway, critically injured. Police say the 28-year-old Columbiaville, Michigan man whose car struck the victim did pull over at the scene. He told investigators that the man ran out directly in front of his vehicle and he was unable to stop or swerve in time to avoid him. Witnesses gave similar accounts.
