Grand Rapids-Area Prosecutor Likely to Drop Some Pot Cases

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) - The prosecutor in western Michigan's largest county says he'll probably drop pending marijuana cases that match the law passed by voters this week.

Recreational use of marijuana by people 21 and older won't be legal for a few more weeks. But Kent County prosecutor Chris Becker says he'll likely give a break to people who were facing charges before the election.

Becker says he won't drop cases against people under 21 or people who are accused of driving under the influence of marijuana. He also says there will be no free pass for people charged with possessing marijuana with plans to distribute it.

Voters on Tuesday approved the personal use of marijuana.
