Warren Mayor Releases Details of Development Project

WARREN, Mich. (AP) - Warren Mayor Jim Fouts released some details about a $170 million public-private project that is expected to help create a downtown in Warren.

Fouts says Wednesday in a release that the Warren Town Center development "is an important first step in achieving the city's goal of creating a downtown that will draw visitors and new high-end businesses" to the suburb located just north of Detroit.

The proposed development will feature 500 apartments and lofts, a boutique hotel and more than 20,000 square feet of retail and dining. It will be built near Warren's City Hall.

Flaherty & Collins Properties was selected to develop the project which needs City Council approval. Construction could start before the end of 2019.
