(CBS DETROIT) – You’ll soon see many signs to wear a mask over Michigan highways.

The Michigan Department of Transportation put up these electric signs over many of the state’s highways.

MDOT officials confirm the signs are a directive from Governor Whitmer’s office.

Violators face a $500 fine or misdemeanor charge for breaking the governor’s mask mandate.
