Among Detroit's towering skyscrapers, just across from a picturesque view of downtown Windsor, Canada across the river, is Hart Plaza; home to many Detroit festivals and outdoor gatherings. And not only that, but the plaza also blends a perfect mix of urban skyline with a nature twinge to boot. As the Renaissance Center looms high above you, bend down on your knee (or watch as he does so) in the building's shadow, near the iconic Spirit of Detroit statue and Horace E. Dodge and Son Memorial Fountain, designed by Isamu Noguchi, and ask that person you love to say, "I do."

Known throughout the country and worldwide as a top restaurant for French cuisine, The Lark is the only locale to win Hour Magazine's Best Restaurant of the Year award on two occasions and is Michigan's First 4-Diamond restaurant and holds a AAA rating with the National Rating Critics. On top of that, it was also named Most Romantic by a poll of Hour Detroit readers. What more could someone hope for when they pop the question to the one they love than all of these accolades of splendor?

Perhaps there is no more historic and glamorous a place in Detroit than The Whitney. In addition to offering "champagne tours," this location is one of the finest dining establishments in the Motor City and has been host to many proposals and engagements. With pure elegance and sophistication like this, there's little chance you'll be told "no" when asking for your loved one's hand.

Roma Cafe
3401 Riopelle
Detroit, MI 48207
(313) 831-5940
www.romacafe.com

The Roma Cafe is Detroit's oldest Italian Restaurant, and that's saying quite a lot for a city founded in 1701. Since opening its doors in 1890, the Roma Cafe has been serving the Midwest's absolute best and most authentic Italian food to scores of visitors and locals alike. The modest and cozy interior feels much like it must have over a century ago, and while it may not have the posh and opulent atmosphere that The Whitney is known for, the Roma Cafe is certainly not lacking charm. The building itself is intimate and historic, dating back to 1888, so you'll feel like you and your lover have been transported back to another time in the Motor City; the perfect ambiance for asking that person the most important question of your life.
