This huge store is the local destination for many computer buyers and most of the folks who build or upgrade their own computers. Micro Center's large parts and peripherals section has prices that rival or come close to those you'll find online. They have new PCs, laptops, Macs and Macbooks, as well as quality refurbished PCs that have been tested by many of the original manufacturers. Micro Center also has a large software selection of programs, computer classes and much more. A friendly, knowledgeable sales staff rounds it all out.

Canton Computers is one of the bigger survivors out of all the local computer stores that popped up in the 1990s. They expanded and now have a new store in Livonia that even has a drive through window for those really in a hurry to get their laptop or PC repaired. Most computers can be repaired in two days. They offer discounts on trade-ins and are a good place to go if you just need a good used computer for a spare or for the kids.

Apple has expanded their presence in Metro Detroit with 4 store locations. They have a good staff who can answer your questions. They can be super busy, but generally they aren't and you can easily get help. The one downside is there is not as much in the way of product and peripherals compared to a bigger computer store, because you are looking at mainly Apple products instead of comparing products from many companies. But if you're just in the market for a Mac, you probably don't care.
