Fourteen miles north of Novi you'll find Alpine. They boast 25 tree-lined runs, 9 chairlifts, 4 rope tows, a magic carpet, and four terrain parks. The magic carpet is just what it sounds like. Instead of holding onto a tow rope or getting on a chair lift you simply step onto a running conveyor belt to the top. Know before you go: Wednesdays are men only and Tuesdays and Thursdays are ladies day. Rates are $31 - $48.

The furthest north of the local hills is Mt. Holly. Of the 19 runs, White Lightning is notable for it's steeps at the top and if you're looking for a mild thrill. Mozart is also a lot of fun and a little more laid back with plenty of room to meander. It's 350 feet of vertical drop put it at the tallest of the local hills. Rates are $31 - $51.

Great for beginners and intermediate skiers and snowboarders. The hill features a 300 ft vertical with 17 runs and two magic carpets for the bunny hills. Fill up your tank at the cafeteria serving basics from soup to pizza. Know before you go: the cafe only takes cash so unless you want to get slammed with ATM fees bring some greenbacks.
