Cinco De Mayo celebrates the national patriotism and unity of Mexico. On May 5, 1862, a Mexican Army overtook the French Army (the best army in the world) at the Battle of Puebla. Times were difficult in Mexico. This battle brought hope and pride to a country. Though the celebration of the battle only lived for two years, the symbolic meaning of this victory continued to inspire and bring hope for years to come. That is why we continue to celebrate Cinco De Mayo. Where will you be celebrating on May 5th?
