Celebrating its one-year anniversary, Elements of Exercise in Dearborn offers Zumba classes Mondays and Wednesday through Saturday. Taught by a variety of instructors, all licensed and certified to teach Zumba, participants may pick and choose classes to find the perfect fit here. In addition to Zumba classes, Elements also offers a wide range of aerobic training classes ranging from turbo kick to yoga fusion. Instructor Jenna Hagan has her students moving to the music at Anytime Fitness in Brownstown Township. Though the gym offers memberships, it’s not required. Members do receive a class discount, however. Hagan has been teaching group fitness classes for more than seven years and brings her expertise to this new, exciting workout regime. One of the premier exercise groups in the tri-county area, Fitness Motivators takes Zumba on the road and into the community, making it easy for anyone to find a class. At the Jon Grant Community Center in Farmington, Zumba classes attract a wide range of students of varying ages and abilities. Though the hallmark of Zumba is moving the body to the music, the instructors will at times take it up a notch to make the workout a bit more intense, using hand weights in conjunction with the high-energy exercise to add toning workouts for the arms and torso. All instructors are Zumba trained and certified and work to personally tailor workouts to fit students’ needs.

For a workout with a world-class instructor who is committed to the benefits of exercises, then head to the Costick Activities Center in Farmington Hills for the Zumba class taught by Debbie Lim. For nearly 30 years Lim has been a full-time instructor of group fitness classes, and is undoubtedly one of the best when it comes to Zumba. Though this class focuses on Zumba’s basic Latin fusion moves, Lim also offers Zumba Gold, intended for older active adults, Aqua Zumba, which add the resistance of water to the workout, and Zumba Toning, which utilizes weight sticks to provide an increased workout.
