Local Boy Makes Good

Anybody see Ray McCallum Jr the other night in the McDonald’s all star Slam Dunk contest?  Ray is one of us.. a Detroiter.. from Country Day High and I know UDM Titan nation is very hopeful that he stays home and plays for his dad Ray McCallum Sr.  I have known Ray and Little Ray now for over two years, and they are terrific people.  I could not be more happy for Big Ray as he turned UDM into a 20 win team this past season, while his son is one of the top High School players in the country and will play tonight for the West in the McDonald’s game.  From what I have been told, Ray Jr is leaning toward Either Detroit or UCLA.  Ben Howland, the coach of the Bruins, was in East Lansing to watch Ray win a state title last weekend.  UCLA needs him.  So does Detroit.  Imagine Ray Jr with Eli Holman and Chase Simon next season.  It would be sick.

Great Article! I pray we land him and he stays home! GO TITANS!

I agree, Matt, Ray Jr was fun to watch in the dunk contest. The Titans already had the best front court in the Horizon League this year (including Butler). With added depth there next year, plus a future start in the backcourt in Ray Jr – the Titans could be poised for great seasons the next few years. Calihan Hall should be a great place to watch D1 ball next year.

Bring RAY JR to the D baby! I can see it now again….UDM upsets UCLA in 2012 NCAA Tourney! R JR is what UDM needs… put them back on the map!
