Three things to consider about the Lions trading Ernie Sims and getting tight end Tony Scheffler in return:

1. Scheffler is an exceptional receiver with great speed and athleticism for the position. He was only available because of a dispute in Denver with Broncos coach Josh McDaniels. He and Jay Cutler were buddies.

2. The Lions did not think Sims was even the short-term answer at linebacker.

3. It could open the door for the Lions taking a middle linebacker in the second round (Brandon Spike?) and keeping DeAndre Levy in Sims’ outside spot, where he played so effectively last season.

maybe schwartz is looking to add an old friend? maybe say keith bullock? and then they could still take mccourty if he’s their

  2. Mike says:

Draft Suh sign PacMan Jones. Take Spikes or Weatherspoon in 2nd. In the third take Valdheer OT if not there take a CB Murphy or Cook. Warren might be available in the third. Take RB Tate, or Hardesty or Blount in the fourth. I really wanted to trade down in the 2nd and get Valdheer but with the trade the need at LB messed that up. I really don’t know what to expect of the Lions

It looks like Mayhew wasted a pick a first rd on Pettigrew now

  4. Jason says:

Not bad trade for detroit Sims was to small he either over ran the play or got ran over. Levy stays outside Follet gets his shot in the middle now we have a recieving tight end because Petigrew was a blocker.

looks like Mayhew wasted a pick a first rd on Pettigrew now I said that when they drafted him
