Excuses Excuses Excuses!

When you lose a game where you have a chance to eliminate the Coyotes and not have to fly across the country to play a game 7 in the desert it is human nature to be mad but the excuses have got to stop! Anytime  in the last 19 seasons that the Wings have lost a postseason game the same rationale keeps coming up and frankly I'm sick of it.  Yes game 6 was not impressive. Jimmy Howard could have been better.  There were defensive breakdowns as well as some of the key stars not showing up but Detroit actually didn't play that bad!

I thought the difference in that game happened early.  Jimmy Howard was unable to stop a Coyote short-handed goal after a bad give-away while Ilya Bryzgolov on the other end was sensational stopping Detroit power play after power play.  If the Wings score early they might go on to win the game but instead Phoenix got the first goal even though they were outplayed.  In fact Detroit was the better team on the ice with the better chances for over 30 minutes of action but it was the Coyotes that got the proverbial "bounces" and ultimately the win.

Of course there was more to the game then what was explained in the above paragraph but the end result is always the same...excuses!  With the Wings more than any other team around, people tend to throw out reasons for Detroit losses that might not even make sense.  C''mon you know what I'm talking about, you have heard them too.  Detroit is not physical enough.  The Wings are too European.  They are too old.  They have played way too many games.  The wrong goalie is starting.  And then there is my favorite...the officials are against them!

So I throw it out to you!  If the Wings were to lose this series, what will be the reason?  Will it be one of the few that I listed above or will you come up with something different?  I also wonder if any of the many thoughts that people have about why this team fails from time to time are valid?  You tell me!  The one thing that I do know however is...that no matter the excuse or the rationale the Wings have always done a great job of proving it wrong and there is no reason Detroit won't do the same in the most important game of the season in front of another sold out, white-out at Jobing.com arena in Glendale, Arizona!  I like Detroit to advance to play the Sharks.

Talk to ya Tuesday night / Wednesday morning to hear what people have to say about what happened!
