Online Exhibit Of Historical Objects

When people think about history, they usually think about books, letters and diaries – written documents.But history is also the study of the things people used – material objects such as tools, toys and machines.

The Smithsonian Institution has put together an online exhibit of the most important objects in U.S. history and posted it on the web as an American history timeline.

Here you can look at objects ranging from the Ruby Slippers from the movie the Wizard of Oz, back to Mayan masks from before Europeans landed in the Americas.
