Storms Knock Out Power To Thousands

Mother Nature threw more storms at southeastern Michigan Wednesday afternoon and those storms knocked out power to more than 26,000 homes and businesses.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch for southeastern Michigan had been posted until 8 p.m., however the alert was cancelled just before 5 p.m.

The winds seem to have been the major trouble maker in these lines of storms. The National Weather Service reports a 72 miles per hour wind gust in Mt. Clemens. 60 mph gusts were recorded in Roseville and West Bloomfield and a 45 mph gust was reported in Farmington Hills at Orchard Lake and 13 Mile Road.

As far as damage, limbs have been reported strewn about in many areas, but in Milford near the GM Proving Ground, three trees went down on one car, but fortunately it wasn't occupied. If you have storm damage photos you'd like us to post, send them to wwjnewsroom@cbsradio.com.

DTE reports tens of thousands of customers are without electricity, including Oakland and Shelby Townships, Livonia, West Bloomfield, Mt. Clemens, New Baltimore, Romulus, Pinckney and Algonac.

To report an outage call 1-800-477-4747.

Later tonight, the skies will clear and the temperature is expected to drop to a low of 65.

Tomorrow, it'll be mostly sunny, cooler and less humid. The temperature is expected to reach a high of 83.

Friday, there will be times of clouds and sun and much more comfortable with a high of 79.
