gas prices pump1 Gas Prices IncreaseGas prices have jumped over the past week.

AAA Michigan says prices are up five cents per gallon over the past week to a statewide average of $2.83.

The auto club said Monday the statewide average is 18 cents per gallon higher than last year at this time.

The average price of a gallon of gas in Metro Detroit is $2.85. That’s roughly 20 cents higher than last year.

Of the cities it surveys, AAA Michigan says the cheapest price for self-serve regular fuel is in the Lansing/E. Lansing area, where it’s $2.77 a gallon. The highest average can be found in the Ann Arbor area at $2.88.

    Supply is high and demand is Low but for some reason the oil industry is still ripping us off. Oil should be $50 – $60 per barrel and gas under $2. This is the worst example of organized price fixing I’ve ever seen in my lifetime. I’m really disappointed that we all sit around like retarded cattle and do nothing about it. We should be rioting in the streets.
