2 Hospitalized After Accident In Bloomfield Hills

Two people are hospitalized following an accident in Bloomfield Hills early Saturday morning.

Police say the accident happened just after 4 a.m. on Woodward Avenue at Hickory Grove.

Investigators say a Ford Escape traveling eastbound on Hickory Grove was hit by a tractor trailer going northbound on Woodward. Emergency crews had to use the Jaws of Life to free the passenger and driver of the Escape.

The passenger is in critical condition and the driver is in serious condition at Royal Oak Beaumont Hospital. The tractor-trailer driver was taken to St. Joseph’s in Pontiac for observation.

Woodward Avenue has been shutdown all morning as police investigate.

Police say it appears alcohol may have been a factor.

I saw the aftermath on the way to work this morning around 7am. The northbound lanes were completely shut down.

The Ford was completely distroyed. I couldn’t even recognize what type of vehicle it was it was so badly damaged. It sat in the middle of the island, between the north and southbound lanes of Woodward.

The truck had severe damage on the front of it.
