Wings Goalie Chris Osgood Is Making Most Of The Twilight

Out near Vernon, British Columbia, 270 miles northeast of Vancouver, the slopes of the Monashee Mountains, covered with Douglas fir and Ponderosa pine trees, ease gently into Kalamalka Lake. There, as sailboats glide and the growls of outboard motors muffle in the distance, goaltender Chris Osgood pedals a bike and plots against the passing years.

"Usually, I really don't take off time, anymore, workout wise," said Osgood, who turns 38 on Nov. 26, when Detroit plays Columbus. "I just don't want to get to the point where I am getting back into shape. I want to say in shape year round.

"Running is hard on my body, so I do a lot more biking than I used to do. But right now, I'm on the track more, running to keep my feet quick so I can move. As summer goes along, I try to change up."
