Earth Science Week Photo Contest

Geology is the study of the earth, its rocks, minerals and other formations, but most kids do not really know the whole scope of the field.

Many people working in the field of geology are involved in energy industries, from coal, to oil and gas, to alternative fuels.

To help kids think more about the topic, the American Geological Institute is sponsoring a photography contest to celebrate Earth Science Week 2010.

The photography theme for this year is: “We Depend on Energy.” The top prize is 300 dollars, and the entry date is October 15.
