Detroiters Voice Concerns Over State Of City

Seven-hundred Detroiters turned out for a meeting to voice their concerns over the future of the city directly to Mayor Dave Bing and Police Chief Ralph Godbee.

It's the third of five scheduled meetings with the mayor.

Citizens at the meeting gripped about neighborhood blight and crime among other things.

William Hyde of Detroit wanted to know why unsightly weeds couldn't be trimmed by prisoners.

Mayor Bing said all of the meetings have been productive so far because citizens could continue to get their anger and frustration out and now they can be much more progressive.

The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday September 21st at the El Kiosko Banquet Hall on Dix, on the city's southwest side.
