2 Men Drown After Boat Capsizes In Lake Superior

Authorities say two Marquette men have drowned and their wives were rescued after their boat capsized in Lake Superior.

WLUC-TV reports the boat was taking on water and its motors weren't working before it overturned Sunday afternoon north of Little Presque Isle.

The Mining Journal of Marquette identified the men as 72-year-old Neal F. Green and 73-year-old Joseph W. December.

Rescue crews found the men, who were pronounced dead at an area hospital. The U.S. Coast Guard and the Marquette County sheriff's department rescued 50-year-old Julia Frei and 58-year-old Evelyn December from the boat. They were treated and released.

Little Presque Isle is located about 7 miles northwest of Marquette.
