"Detroit 1-8-7" Debuts Tuesday

[photogallerylink id=26100 align=left]A city councilman will host a focus group and viewing party for the debut of the network television crime drama “Detroit 1-8-7.”

Councilman Andre Spivey says he hopes Tuesday’s event will spur candid talk about the show, which has some concerned it will play on Detroit’s already poor national image.

Students at Central High School also will view the ABC show for homework and discuss it Wednesday with Spivey in class. The viewing party is planned at a Detroit home.

“Detroit 1-8-7” debuts at 10 p.m. EDT, and the production crew has set up shop full-time in Detroit. It features fictional members of a Detroit homicide squad. Actors and creators say they’ll show the city’s grit as well as its heart.

Focus groups and discuss all you want – til your blue (or grey) in the face… It does not matter a bit – the show must go on and nothing will stop a network from making the almighty dollar. Detroit city may suck and we should be ashamed of it – but the suburbs are clean, safe and something to be proud of.

Can we redraw the county line and put Detroit in Oakland County? Please. I am tiered of sinking tax dollars into that money pit.
