Gunpowder Found In Fraser Student's Backpack

Police say two highlighters filled with gunpowder and paper wicks were found inside a student’s backpack at Fraser High School Wednesday.

According to investigators, another student was looking through the suspect’s backpack and found the suspicious items.

Both Fraser police officers and the Michigan State Police Bomb Squad responded to the scene.  The Bomb Squad dismantled the devices and said the powder inside appeared to be gunpowder.

School officials have sent letters to parents.

No word yet if the teen will face charges.
