Singer Holds Free Concert At Local School

Super star recording artist and actor Jesse McCartney was in concert at a local high school Tuesday afternoon, and there were hundreds of screaming fans on hand for the event.

The 23-year-old put on a free concert at West Bloomfield High School to kick off the "Text the Pledge" campaign that calls for high school students to commit to only making A's, B's, and C's, in school, joining after school activities, and just having an overall better attitude about their education.

Before his performance, McCartney talked about why he wanted to be part of this program.

"It's very important, especially with our youth, for everyone to maintain a good GPA. And I was one of those students that had to, given that I had a job outside of school, I had to maintain to stay in school," said McCartney.

The goal is to have thousands of students across the state take the pledge.
