Criminal Charges In Neighborhood Feud

View Comments

More trouble for a Trenton woman who used Facebook to bully a girl with Huntington’s disease, a fatal brain disorder.

Jennifer Petkov, who taunted 7-year old Kathleen Edwards and her family on Facebook with a picture of a skull and crossbones, has been charged with assault with a dangerous weapon and reckless driving after a neighbor, Tana Boling, said Petkov tried to her over as she walked to see Edwards’ grandmother.

Petkov’s attorney Scott Weinberg, says those charges should be dismissed because a videotape shows Boling walking across the street and Petkov not aiming to drive at her.

“I assume the prosecutor has not seen the videotape of the actual incident, that they just went on witness statements that were untrue and once they see the videotape hopefully the prosecutors office will do the right thing and dismiss the charges,” Weinberg told WWJ’s Beth Fisher Saturday.

Weinberg says these neighbors have been feuding for years.

“Hopefully we’ll be able to resolve the criminal case and the neighbors can keep to themselves and they can live happily ever after.”

Petkov and her husband have apologized for harassing the 7-year-old Edwards and her family.

The assault charge carries a maximum penalty of four years in jail. Reckless driving is a misdemeanor with punishment up to 93 days behind bars.

On Thursday, Edwards went on a shopping spree after supporters raised thousands of dollars to support her. Click here to read more.
