View Comments

Waterford Township police say they have destroyed $8 million worth of street drugs during controlled burns.

The drugs included marijuana, heroin, cocaine and prescription drugs that were seized during the past two years.

Chief Daniel McCaw tells The Oakland Press of Pontiac the drugs were destroyed at an undisclosed southeast Michigan incinerator that reached upward of 2,000 degrees.

The first batch took three full days to burn beginning in late September. The second load was destroyed Oct. 1.

The destruction of marijuana that could be used for much needed medical marijauana is a cold calculated move. If one only knew how much medical marijuana assist patients in need a better solution would have been sought after.

8 million dollars. How much in taxes? How much was the total cost to burn it? How many minutes did it delay the drug dealer from delivering new untaxed drugs to his client? BIG WASTE OF MONEY.
