Aretha Cancels Detroit Concert, Cites Health

Aretha Franklin's "This Christmas" concert at the Fox Theatre has been cancelled, due to "medical reasons." The soul legend was released from the hospital over the weekend after what a statement from a publicist described as  "a brief stay.''

Franklin's people didn't say why she was hospitalized in the first place. They are also not providing any further details about her medical issues.

Franklin's publicist Tracey Jordan said Franklin has canceled all concert dates and personal appearances through May, at the request of her doctors.

The show was originally scheduled at the Fox for Thursday, Dec. 9 at 7:30 p.m.
