Online Games For Tricky Math Concepts

The Internet is full of web sites that can help your child review and learn key mathematics concepts.

PBSkids.org, for example, the online service of the Public Broadcasting Service, features games such as Melvin's Make-a-Match, in which students need to look at a picture of a shape, and look at a fraction written in numbers, and find the equal amounts. These are then placed on a scale and measured to see if they are equal. This game gives kids a visual reinforcement of what fractions are – pieces of a whole, and allows them to see a fraction expressed two different ways.
