The switch on the 2010 Wayne County Parks Lightfest will be flipped on this week.

What’s said to be the largest and longest holiday lights show in the midwest will have 17 new displays out of the three dozen or so visitors will see as they travel along Hines Park Drive.

Opening ceremonies will take place at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday at Westland’s Merriman Hollow. Festivities will include fireworks, music and holiday goodies.

Keep in mind that December 7, 14 and 21 are the scheduled “Toy Nights” at Lightfest. Simply show up with an unwrapped toy in lieu of the $5 dollar donation per car. The toys go to disadvantaged children in Wayne County.
