Ann Arbor-based XanEdu, the leading faculty-preferred provider of custom course materials and textbooks, has partnered with Barnes & Noble and Texas A&M to conduct research on the efficacy of accessing and studying custom course materials within NookStudy.
Students at Texas A&M will access their XanEdu course materials in NookStudy and provide valuable feedback on usability, accessibility and feature preferences of both the application itself, and the digital content provided.
NookStudy enables students to manage all of their digital content — eTextbooks, class materials, and notes within one application — and is available for any student to download free on the computing device they rely on most, their PC or Mac.
“NookStudy was designed with extensive input from college students, professors and administrators,” said Jade Roth, Vice President of Books & Digital Strategy at Barnes & Noble College Booksellers LLC. “Expanding our longstanding partnership with XanEdu, the leading publisher of custom digital course materials for higher education, is the next natural step. Our two companies share common goals for enriching the classroom experience, providing easier access to course materials, and supporting collaboration among students and faculty.”
Information gained through the research will enable XanEdu to better support and expand its platform-neutral delivery model.
“XanEdu recognizes the rich array of platforms for delivery of flexible custom content,” said Tyler Steben, vice president of custom publishing at XanEdu Publishing Inc. “The NookStudy application is exciting to us because it already has built-in highlighting, note taking, mobility and collaboration tools which are all key features that students are requesting from us. This test is the first step in expanding our already wide-reaching partnership with Barnes & Noble College Booksellers. We are also pleased to be working with Texas A&M which is an esteemed institution and familiar with using cutting edge technology for higher education.”
XanEdu is the largest custom course materials provider in North America, with over 15,000 titles published annually at over 2000 institutions. XanEdu course materials are available in traditional print or digital formats. The company also offers Copley Custom Textbooks, complete copyright services, business cases from all of the leading publishers and an extensive database of other popular content.
