Walled Lake Teacher Facing Sex Charge

A Walled Lake middle school teacher faces charges of inappropriately touching a little girl.

54 year-old Larry Konyha, who lives in Commerce Township and teaches at Walnut Creek Middle School, has been arraigned on a charge of second-degree criminal sexual conduct. The alleged victim; an eight year-old girl.

The child told authorities that on or about October 24, Konyha fondled her. She told her mother, who is acquainted with Konyha, and she contacted authorities.

Konyha is free on a 50 thousand dollar personal bond and has been ordered to have no contact with anyone under the age of 18. The Walled Lake Consolidated School District has placed Konyha on unpaid suspension.

The alleged victim is not a Walled Lake student and the incident did not occur at any Walled Lake school. Konyha has no prior police record.
