Plex Issues White Paper On Traceability, Audit For Food Processors

Auburn Hills-based manufacturing ERP software provider Plex Systems Inc. Thursday announced the availability of a free white paper to help food processors learn how ERP features -- including track and trace, document management and real-time reporting -- can help meet food safety requirements.

In light of recent legislation such as the 2010 FDA Food Safety Modernization Act and a number of food safety incidents, traceability of food products back from the consumer to the beginning of the supply chain has never been as important. The paper showcases Plex Online's full track and trace features to manage this important process throughout the food supply chain more effectively.

Said Mark Symonds, Plex Systems president and CEO: "The new law requires food and beverage processors to develop and document an aggressive strategy for preventing contamination, and it will enable the FDA to conduct random audits quicker and more efficiently. Plex Online can help processors improve their safety practices while more easily and thoroughly tracking products and ingredients all the way back to the farms where they originated."

Plex Online, delivered on the Web as a service, includes manufacturing execution systems and quality management systems features for the shop floor, supply chain management for procurement, and enterprise resource planning for finance and management. Plex Online's comprehensive functional coverage delivers a "shop floor to top floor" view of a manufacturer's operations, enabling management to run its business at maximum efficiency. Founded in 1995, Plex has customers around the globe.
