Westland Apt. Fire Leaves Dozens Homeless

Dozens of people have been burned out of their homes after a huge fire rips through an apartment complex in Westland.

The flames Monday night destroyed 40 units of the Waynewood Apartment complex, located between Warren and Ford roads. One
resident and one firefighter were injured.

Investigators will be searching through the rubble Tuesday, trying to find the cause of the fire. Fire crews were hampered by the extreme cold temperatures, when the water from their fire hoses froze up.

Two chapters of the Red Cross have been called in to help the displaced families with food, clothing, and temporary housing.
