Volt Auction Winner To Be Announced

Chevrolet will announce the winner of the Volt Charity Auction, on Thursday, Dec. 16 at the Detroit International Academy, an all-girls academy that stresses science and math.

The auction for the first Chevrolet Volt offered for sale, bearing the vehicle identification number ending in BU100002, closed at $225,000. All of the proceeds will go to the Detroit Public School Foundation to support science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) initiatives for Detroit Public School students.

To illustrate one such initiative, the winner will be announced at the Detroit International Academy, where the all-girls robotics team recently placed fourth in the 2010 FIRST Robotics world championship. In the future, funds from the Volt charity auction will help teams like the academy's "Pink Panthers" compete in robotics events by providing competition materials, entry fees, and travel expenses.

At the event, faculty and students from the Detroit International Academy will also showcase their teams' robotics competition entries.
