Know Before You Go: Ten Airport Security Tips

If your holiday includes a trip to the airport, you will definitely need these ten airport security tips to save you time.
 
10 security-line tips for travelers from the Transportation Security Administration:

   - Bring proper ID: that means a passport, a driver's license or a military ID.

   - Don't forget your boarding pass.
 
  - Put large liquids in checked luggage. Otherwise, put 3.4 ounce (100ml) bottles or less in one quart-sized, clear, plastic, zip-top bag. One bag per passenger allowed.

   - Take all loose items like coins, keys and phones out of your pockets and place them in a bin at the security checkpoint. Better yet, keep all of that in your carry-on until you go through security.

   - Wear slip-on shoes.

   - Remember to remove laptops and other electronics from your carry-on for extra screening.

   - Put your winter coat in your carry on or in your checked bag - this saves time from having to take it off in the security line.

   - Don't try to board with hazardous items. Sharp objects such as knives and ski poles are prohibited in carry on bags. Place those things in your checked luggage. Same goes for baseball bats, hockey sticks and most tools.

   - Certain items like fireworks and flammable paints are always banned in checked and carry-on luggage.

   - Be nice. Don't threaten the TSA agent, don't joke about bombs and don't get physical with the screener. The more pleasant you are, the quicker the security process will be.
