Roseville Purse Snatching Leads to Chase, Arrests

A purse snatching indicent at the Roseville Meijer Store Wednesday morning led to a police chase into Detroit and the eventual arrest of two suspects.

Police say a 58 year-old Roseville woman was knocked down inside the store at 13 Mile and Little Mack by a man who took off with her purse.

An off-duty St. Clair Shores firefighter witnessed the incident and gave chase, only to be tripped by a second suspect. Both suspects then got into a waiting vehicle and drove away.

The firefighter alerted Roseville Police, who spotted the vehicle and gave chase on I-94 into Detroit before losing it.  A short time later, Detroit Police spotted the vehicle parked in the back yard of a home on Algonquin Street, with the motor still running.

Neighbors alerted police that the suspects were in a nearby house. A search turned up the male and female suspects hiding in a closet. They were taken into custody without incident. Police recovered the victim's purse.

The suspects face multiple felony charges, including unarmed robbery and fleeing and eluding. The victim was unhurt.
