Terry Foster: Tuesday Was A Crazy Day

First we heard that Michigan fired Rich Rodriguez as head coach. Now we know that he has not been fired. There has been so much going on that I quite frankly do not know what to believe. I will simply pass along some things I've heard and it is up to you to digest it and decide what is true.

Officially Michigan Athletic Director David Brandon has not fired Rodriguez. They met and Rodriguez was pleading for his job. He wants to stay and was trying to convince Brandon to change his mind.

We will find out if things work out Wednesday.

I am also being told that Jim Harbaugh is interested in the Michigan job and will meet with the school. Michigan is also interested in LSU coach Les Miles. The school floated out Brady Hoke's name to see how alumni and former players would react. They were surprised by the mixed reaction and now want to hit a home run with Miles or Harbaugh.

The problem with Harbaugh is the NFL is barking on his front door. The Miami Dolphins and Denver Broncos want to talk to him and meetings are being scheduled. You can expect Harbaugh to give Michigan a chance to speak with him. And don't be shocked if he accepts the job.

I expect Rich Rod to be fired after three years but it is not a done deal yet. He is still Michigan coach and he wants to return next season.

Will it happen?

I doubt it but this story has been so bazaar that anything is possible. I admit to you that I have no idea what is going on. The story caught me by surprise and I've never seen anything like this.

I did talk to a few former players. Most were not fans of Brady Hoke. Former linebacker Larry Foote was, however.

So there is your crazy day in Ann Arbor. Stay tuned. It will be the big talk on 97.1 The Ticket.
