2 College Students Shot In Ypsi Twp

Two college students are hospitalized after being shot in Ypsilanti Township.  Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Derrick Jackson told WWJ that it happened around 9 p.m. Wednesday after a fight outside a home in the 2000 block of Briardale Court, near Willow Run Airport.

“They sustained gunshot wounds.  They were both 19-year old males from the Ypsilanti area.  One happens to be a student at Eastern Michigan (University), one is a student at Washtenaw Community College,” Jackson said.

The two were found in a car by police.  “It doesn’t appear to be a totally random act.  There was some interaction, there was some altercation that happened,” said Jackson.

They were taken to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital.  Their condition isn’t known, but their injuries were thought to be non-life threatening.  Police are looking for suspects and possible witnesses.
