Is The Dark Knight Coming To The D?
There's talk that the new Batman movie "The Dark Knight Rises," may be partially filmed in Detroit.
While ReelChicago.com reports that Detroit may be the site of filming for the third installment of the Batman franchisMichigan Film Office spokesperson Michelle Begnoche says there's no official word yet.
"The Film Office hasn't received an application from the production yet. Until we have that application in our hand, it's only speculation," she said.
Regardless, Begnoche tells WWJ Newsradio 950 good things are happening.
"2011 is shaping up to be an exciting year and a big year for the Michigan film industry," Begnoche said.
If the speculation turns out to be true, "The Dark Knight Rises," starring Christian Bale, would be one of two big-budget comic book pictures filmed in Michigan this year. Part of "The Avengers," starring Robert Downey, Junior is rumored to be filmed in Michigan as well.
