The North American Car of the Year is the Chevy Volt. The Volt beat out the Hyundai Sonata and the battery-powered Nissan Leaf.

How can an untest, undriven car be car of the year?

  • The Other Dan

The Chevy Volt can be car of the year because: Firts off it WAS test driven by the media who named it thus. And the Volt is an entirely different car, not a pure electric, not a true hybrid. It’s technology is completely new.

  • The Other Dan

I prefer trucks, but I would love a Volt.

FYI the new Explorer is built on the Taurus, not the truck frame it used to be.

  • Voice of Reason

Whether the Explorer is on a truck frame or a car frame it is still considered a truck. What are these people somking? They all want a truck, which most will never use it the way it is desinged to carry dirt, construction equipment, etc. Not just to say I own a truck, that is senseless.

  • brian

the explorer is based on the taurus platform, it has aunibody not a full frame!!!

  • Stan

So the Taurus is now a truck?

  • craig

The government considers a truck to be a vehicle which can haul cargo on a flat surface, such as by removing or folding seats to create a load floor. The PT Cruiser is called a truck by the EPA, helping Chrysler’s average truck mileage figure.
