Slain Store Owner's Family Seeks Closure

The family of a Ferndale store owner killed during a robbery on the day after Thanksgiving is asking for the public's help in finding his killer.

Two hundred-fifty balloons were released into the air outside the Ferndale Dollar Club Plus store, Wednesday, in memory of the store's owner Karim Khamarko who was killed two months ago.

Khamarko's family members spoke at an emotional ceremony outside the store.

"Everyone here today knew my dad and they loved him a lot, and that's why they're here, to show their support," said his daughter, Candace.

"My dad's life was taken away for no reason. It was a senseless crime.  My family needs closure and we want justice for my dad, so he can rest in peace," she said.

A $15,00 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the killer.  So far, Ferndale police say they have not received any substantial leads.

Investigators believe robbery was the motive.
