Verizon Wireless has activated two new cell sites in Roscommon County that improve voice and data coverage in portions of the county, including the area around Houghton Lake.
Also improved should be reception along and around the following major roads:
* US-127 from County Road 104 (Pine Road), south to about four
miles north of the Clare County line
* M-18 from Prudenville, south to near the Clare-Gladwin county line

The new cell sites are both equipped with a permanent backup generator for times of emergency.
