Teacher Arraigned On Criminal Sexual Conduct Charge

GRAND BLANC TOWNSHIP (AP) Genesee County authorities have accused a Grand Blanc High School special education teacher of having sexual relations with one of her students.

Thirty-nine-year-old Tracy Stimac of Grand Blanc was arraigned Friday on one count of criminal sexual conduct involving an 18-year-old.

Prosecutors say the charge stems from a January 13 incident in a vehicle in the parking lot of a Grand Blanc Township apartment complex.

Grand Blanc Community Schools' Superintendent Michael Newton said in a statement that Stimac has been suspended and the charge is ``very alarming.''
  

Stimac's attorney Frank Manley tells The Flint Journal his client has ``been a teacher with an outstanding record'' for more than 14 years and she will ``contest the allegations vigorously.''

Third-degree criminal sexual conduct carries a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison.
