BROOKS TWP (WWJ) A Grand Rapids man was injured when a tire on his plane struck a snow bank and caused the aircraft to flip over onto Hess Lake in west Michigan.

Michigan State Police say 73-year-old Dale Buttermore was taking off from the lake in a single-engine plane Sunday afternoon when the accident happened in Brooks Township in Newaygo County.

People near the scene helped Buttermore out of the plane. He suffered minor injuries.
