Cold, But Snow-Free Friday

DETROIT (WWJ) - The snowy conditions and icy roads are being cleared, but the early morning drivers will deal with a new winter weather element; it's going to be a dangerously cold.

Temperatures will fall to the single digits - 0 to 6 degrees in the early morning hours. Be sure to stock cold weather gear in your car in case of emergency. Items such as blankets, cell phone with charger, food, water and remember never to leave your car if you should get stuck on the freeway or slide off the road.

Accuweather's Jim Kosek says it's going to stay bright, but cold through Friday.

Kosek says the wind will calm down overnight, but frigid temps will set in -- with a low between 0 and 6 degrees. We'll rebound to about 30 degrees Saturday, but that will be accompanied by a few snow showers.

Here's the Accuweather Forecast:

Friday: Sunshine and breezy. High 22.  Low 3.

Saturday: Mostly cloudy with snow showers. High 30. Low 22.

Sunday: Variable cloudiness. High 35. Low 25.

Overall, freeways are improving, but there are still areas to watch out for. WWJ's Vicki Thomas reported slick, ice-covered ramps, along with parts of the roads and freeways.
