Arrest Made In Double Murder
DETROIT (WWJ) - An arrest has been made in a double murder and home invasion on Detroit's east side last weekend.
Nineteen-year old Savante Johnson has been charged with the murders of 89-year old Joseph "Lefty" Lauzon and his 52-year old son, Randy, at their home on Beaconsfield.
Johnson allegedly shot the men after breaking into their home.
Karen Singelyn is the daughter and sister of the victims, she spoke to WWJ's Beth Fisher, saying: "I'd like to thank the Detroit Police Department for doing such an awesome job on this case- (Second) I'd like to thank all the neighbors for helping the police department out in capturing the suspect- (Third) I'd like to thank everyone for all their prayers and support through this past week."
Singlelyn says it has been hard but they plan to attend the trial when it starts.
Family friend of the younger Lauzon, Howie Herula says he is so angry over the murder, he has not had the time to grieve. But was quick to praise the effort of the Detroit police, "It's awesome, especially (an arrest) so quick...Detroit police were amazing, just awesome," Herula said.
