Snyder, Bing Attend Basketball Game

Gov. Rick Snyder and Detroit Mayor Dave Bing attended the Michigan-Wisconsin basketball game Wednesday night to build camaraderie.

``Every once in a while, you've got to have fun,'' Bing said at halftime. ``Our jobs are very demanding, and very seldom do we get a chance to do this, so when he invited me, I was honored to come.''

Bing is an ex-Syracuse University basketball player who went on to star with the Detroit Pistons. He also played with the Washington Bullets and Boston Celtics and is in the Basketball Hall of Fame.

Snyder is an avid University of Michigan fan who holds three degrees from the school. He attended Bing's State of the City address Tuesday. The two sat courtside across from the Michigan bench on Wednesday.

The men have differences over how much financial help Michigan's biggest city should get from the state, as well as other issues.

At one point in the first half, Michigan students began chanting Snyder's name.

``It's good to hear after budget messages,'' he said.
