Red Wings Report: Notes, Quotes

--The Wings aren't likely to be active by Monday's 3 p.m. trading deadline. They do not have any pressing needs. They also don't have the salary-cap space to acquire a player without shedding an equal amount of salary, which they don't appear inclined to do. They are $600,000 under the salary cap, but they need to save that money in case they have to recall a player from Grand Rapids (AHL) due to a rash of short-term injuries.

--So much for Miller vs. Miller, part IV. Drew Miller was a healthy scratch for the Wings Saturday against Buffalo. Miller was looking forward to playing against his brother, Sabres goaltender Ryan, for only the fourth time in his career. But with Mike Modano and Valtteri Filppula both returning from injuries, the Wings needed to scratch a healthy forward.

QUOTE TO NOTE
"First period we were down a little bit, but we stuck with it. We took over the game, started getting pucks to the net and putting a little more pressure on (Ryan Miller). He's one of the best goalies in the league, he's going to stop what he sees." -- Wings goaltender Joey MacDonald.
