Lions Part Ways With Kevin Smith

The Lions may have a new #34 this upcoming season since it won't be Kevin Smith. The Lions did not offer a tender to the 4th year RB, which makes Smith a free agent. Smith ended his 2009 season after he tore his ACL; Smith was also placed on IR this past season after week 10. In Smith's 3 season with the Lions after being drafted 1st in the 3rd round of the 2008 NFL Draft he rushed for 1,856 yards, 980 came in his rookie year. This move means more playing time for 2nd year RB Jahvid Best.
